March Updates

Honoring Women's History Month

March is Women’s History Month! This month is dedicated to encouraging the study, observance and celebration of the vital role of women in American History.

NYMB wouldn’t be the same without the dedicated women behind the scenes. Thank you to our team of women who make it all possible! Click here to see a reel of our talented staff.

International Women's Day

NYMB celebrated International Women’s Day by sending a special thank you to all of the benevolent women who donate their extra breast milk to help sick babies in the NICU thrive. Take a peek at the reel on our Instagram page here.

The aim of the International Women’s Day 2023 #EmbraceEquity campaign theme is to get the world talking about Why equal opportunities aren’t enough. People start from different places, so true inclusion and belonging require equitable action. For more information, visit here.

Thank You, PepsiCo!

PepsiCo recently donated an industrial sized refrigerator to NYMB! As we expand, we need more room to store more milk.

SGRho Sorority Donates Baby Blankets to NYMB

Local Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. chapter Delta Nu Sigma recently donated handmade baby blankets to share with NYMB families. Along with the blankets, we received a nice note and photos from the session:

"I wanted to share that the crafting session went well. We had about 20 volunteers which included some members of our affiliate clubs as young as 12 years old. The group was so inspired by your slideshow that many decided to go to Michael's after the event and buy additional yarn to make more blankets. We also have a few individuals outside of the organization that were inspired by our photos that they decided to donate additional blankets to us...

Be well,
Mamielisa"

Thank you to these amazing women and their families for not only supporting NYMB but also encouraging other individuals to do so as well.

If you knit or crochet and would like to donate baby blankets to NYMB, please send an email to our Director of Community Relations Roseanne.

Meet Jonathan from Northwest Mothers Milk Bank

Northwest Mothers Milk Bank received a grant to purchase a Sterifeed Pasteurizer and since our techs are experts, Jonathan came all the way from Oregon to spend two days in our laboratory. He learned from us and we learned from him and we celebrated by eating burritos!

Forever In Our Hearts

Kim Wetzel was a true hero who volunteered as a Milk Rider for NYMB. Milk Riders step in to pick up and deliver milk to sick babies and hospitals in case of an emergency.

We continue to send our love and support to Kim’s friends and family.

Babies Thriving

Thank you to NYMB Donor Amanda and baby Iris for donating their extra breast milk to help babies in the NICU thrive!
