February Updates

Honoring Black History Month

"As we celebrate Black History Month, we pay tribute to the struggles and achievements of the people and events that have shaped our nation... By working together to raise awareness about Black maternal, infant, and child health, and bringing to light community priorities, strengths, and assets, we can all share and utilize resources, and actively engage in collaborative efforts to advance health equity."

- United States Breastfeeding Committee

Happy One Year Anniversary, Linda!

This past month, our Executive Director celebrated one year at NYMB.

"I knew The New York Milk Bank would be more than just a job but the work that we do is truly life changing. I've gotten to work with the most passionate people and for that I am grateful." -Linda

Happy One Year Anniversary, Liz!

Our Milk Technician Liz also celebrated one year with us at NYMB!

"My first year at the milk bank has been a true journey. It has helped me grow not only in skills but as a person, too. It is very fulfilling to know that all the hard work we do can help save babies lives." -Liz

Happy Valentines Day

Feeling The Love

Milk banking takes a village! We sent small tokens of appreciation to our lovely Milk Depots to celebrate Valentine's Day.

A milk depot is a convenient collection site for our approved donors to drop off their milk.

A Peek Into Our Donor Department

There are several delivery options for a donor once they are approved to donate breast milk. If you are local, you can coordinate with NYMB's Donor Department and drop off your milk at our facility or you can utilize one of our many Milk Depots in the tristate area. Another option is to ship milk to us in carefully insulated boxes, all fees and costs covered by NYMB.

Pictured below is donated milk sorted into freezers where it will stay until it is time to be thawed, bottled and pasteurized.

A Peek Into Our Lab

Once milk arrives at our facility, each bag is carefully inspected and then gently thawed to start the pasteurization process. Yes, indeed! Liquid love for the NICU.
