We are thrilled to announce that the SWWC Foundation was able to raise over $45,000 to support the 2023-24 Student Enrichment Program!

 

THANK YOU to all our donors and partners for making a positive impact on the future leaders of our region.

 

Events held in April and May are highlighted below. 

 

Ninety students from across the region submitted one or more entries for the Creative Writing Contest ... for a total of 172 pieces of fiction, nonfiction and/or poetry that were judged by the SMSU Creative Writing Department. At the Awards Banquet on April 21, guest speaker Anna Fitzer presented 14 students with first through third place medals. The two scholarship winners and all the first-place winners are shown below. The Schwan Culinary Skills Challenge was held on April 18 at SMSU in Marshall. Over 275 students participated in interactive sessions and/or competitions. Competition categories included Baking Science, Cake Decorating, Culinary, Food Art, Knife Skills, Menu Design and Place Setting/Napkin Folding. Interactive session topics were Crepes & Cream, Beef Tips, Decorating Cookies, Crafting Charcuterie and more.

The Science and Nature Conference was held on May 7 at SMSU in Marshall with over 930 K-8 students in attendance. The conference kicked off with the National Eagle Center keynote and then students attended three breakout sessions (from a choice of over 25).
