A message from our Board Chair:

 

MLEF strives to live out our mission to support and enhance the ever-changing needs of students, programs, staff and facilities to help shape the future of our school district. Donors like you are making that possible. As our Moorhead schools start a new year, I want to take a moment to reflect on the impact our donors made in 2022-23. 

  • $8,500 in Spud Impact grants were awarded to 22 staff members for innovative and educational projects.
  • $25,000 in Food For Thought funds were provided to students needing milk and snack, helping 146 students on food assistance programs.
  • $98,000 in Spud Scholarships were awarded to 83 graduating seniors and alumni last spring.

As we look to the future, we've already begun making plans for increased support, in part, thanks to a new partnership with SpudsTV, and generous sponsors in the Big Orange Club, Spuddy Club and 152Club. Furthermore, in lieu of a gala celebration over homecoming, MLEF is launching Spud Giving Days for one big weekend of community support. Join us Sept. 29th - Oct. 1st to raise more than $7,348+ to support our 7,348 Moorhead students! 

Follow our social media pages as we share stories that are a direct result of your gifts. We'll also be announcing the Spud Giving Days match donors that are helping to double the impact of your gifts this month. 

 

It's an exciting time for Moorhead Schools as they celebrate their 150th Anniversary and make the move into the new high school educational wing that is set for completion by January 2024. THANK YOU for investing in our mission to support Moorhead's students and staff. Together, our gifts make an impact.

Spud Impact : Applications Open

We provide grants and designated gifts to Moorhead Area Public Schools, educators and staff for the main areas of Academics, Activities, Arts and Athletics. The Legacy Foundation has awarded annual Spud Impact grants totaling $3,000 - $10,000 each fall. 
MAPS Teachers and Staff: 2023-24 Spud Impact Grant application is open on Extranet. Grant awardees will be announced in November.

Spud History : Reunions, 150th Anniversary

MLEF provides support for reunions and Spud History through in-kind donations, designated gifts and grants. Future projects include a second history wall for the new high school and a commemorative history book as Moorhead Schools celebrates their 150th Anniversary. "Once a Spud... Always a Spud" is only available for pre-sale until October 1, 2023 (available in December). Follow the MAPS website for their anniversary celebrations.

152Club : New Benefits!

Join the 152Club to receive our e-newsletters and updates. An annual gift of $152 goes toward greatest need. Membership includes a commemorative pin (value $10), one MHS Activity Pass (value $60), one free popcorn per regular season game/match, and an invite to a pre-game event (date TBD, value $15).
